The Galaxy Grand 2 is Samsung's smartphone offering for the mid range customers. It has a 5.25 inch HD TFT LCD Screen display that looks similar to Note 3. It is good for those who want really big screen at small price. As the Note 3 is priced high this becomes as a trimmed down version of it. The back of the Grand 2 is a plastic leather-effect and pretend stitching that we first saw on the Note 3.
Power
It hosts a quad-core processor, clocked at 1.2GHz. It can handle high-res video, and some gaming no lad or stutter was noticed when gliding through menus and home screens. It holds a 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.9 MP front facing camera. Samsung has loaded the phone with its usual assortment of camera modes, like Beauty Face, which smooths away the imperfections on face, 'Best Face', 'Best Photo', and 'Continuous Shot'.
Memory
The device is powered by 1.5GB of RAM. 8GB of internal storage along with a Micro SD card slot expandable upto 32GB. It comes with Android 4.3 JellyBean pre-installed along with ToughWiz Nature UX.
Connectivity
Connectivity features of the phablet include dual SIM card slots, GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0, GLONASS A-GPS & MicroUSB v2.0 port. The thickness is 8.9mm and weight 163 grams with 2600 mAh battery.
Apps
The Grand 2 also packs Story Album, S Translator, S Travel, Samsung Hub, and Samsung Link. How many of these bespoke apps you'll really use is definitely up for debate.
One downside is there's no LTE support, so you'll be relegated to 3G speeds when it comes to mobile data downloads. On the plus side, there's dual-SIM support for those who regularly need access to two different SIM-cards.
Verdict
The Galaxy Grand 2 is the smartphone for everyone which as Samsung has thought. If not able to afford the priced Note 3 but want to have a big screen phone you can give the Grand 2 a shot.
It is to be priced at around Rs 20,500/-.
